A Consumer's Guide to The Holy Spirit The author's years of teaching miracles, signs, and wonders exposed a wide variety of teachings in the contemporary church concerning the Holy Spirit. Denominations have run rampant in formulating "divinely inspired imaginings" about the work of the Holy Spirit in contemporary times. This book represents the author's fresh look at the language of the New Testament. That fresh look authenticates the nature of the Holy Spirit as encountered by the author and his wife. May this book bless you with many "Aha!" moments in your pursuit to participate with God in supernatural ministry.

The topos of Divine Testimony in Luke-Acts

In this study James McConnell addresses the concept of authoritative testimony in Luke-Acts. Specifically, he argues that particular elements in the narrative of Luke-Acts can be understood as instances of the topos of divine testimony through utterances and deeds, considered in some ancient rhetorical handbooks to be the most authoritative form of testimony when seeking to persuade an audience. McConnell claims the gods' testimony was used in ancient law courts and political speeches to persuade a judge of a defendant's guilt or innocence, and in attempts in public forums to convince others of a particular course of action. Similarly, the topos is used in ancient narratives and biographies to legitimate certain characters and discredit others. The instances of the topos of God's speech (both oral and through OT citations) and deeds in Luke-Acts are functioning in the same way.

This story is less than a "who done it" and more of "why did he do it" and "where did he get it." Why would an 83-year-old Catholic bookkeeper leave a fortune to a Jewish Synagogue? Where did he get the millions he left? Where is his family? This book shows that the drama of a civil lawsuit is every bit as dramatic as any criminal trial, and that people will fight for money every bit as hard as they will fight for freedom or for their lives.

Hebrew for Biblical Interpretation teaches elementary Hebrew with a specific focus on the tasks of biblical exegesis. This innovative textbook combines the features of a traditional grammar with exercises in reading and interpreting the Hebrew Bible. Grammatical descriptions are clear, concise, and systematic, and vocabulary is introduced in descending order of frequency. All words occurring more than 100 times in the Hebrew Bible are taught, and attention to grammatical indicators reduces the need for rote memorization of paradigms. The integration of grammar and exegesis helps to motivate students and makes the textbook well-suited to seminary courses, while those who teach in university settings will find the textbook useful because the focus is on scholarly biblical exegesis, not theological interpretation.
